Sport ‘crucial’ in residing with dementia

A County Armagh man who resides with dementia has mentioned sport is a “crucial” a part of his life.

Gerard Doran, 62, who has performed and coached GAA in Lurgan, mentioned the bodily and psychological advantages from being concerned with the game and hillwalking has helped him really feel as if he’s “reaching one thing”.

“Sport is kind of unbelievable to me, when it comes to friendship, when it comes to emotions, when it comes to achievement and it is not simply bodily, the psychological skills and the psychological advantages are fairly unbelievable,” he instructed BBC Information NI.

“Assembly my pals and speaking about all these occasions, all these years, continues to be a vital a part of my life.”
